Politica NC 2020 Election Slam

Interested in the North Carolina November election? Politica NC invites you to join us for our 2020 Election Slam, an action-packed virtual event with two hours of practical information. Three breakout sessions will give you real skills to talk about politics with people you know, education about how to make informed voting decisions that count plus how to best prepare to vote, and how to get more involved in the campaigns if that’s something you’re considering. As a bonus, our event will open with a quick briefing on current polling by Tom Jensen, polling expert from PPP.

Politica NC is a community of progressive women who are working to educate and engage more people in state level politics. Many Politicas are members of RPWF and we have co-hosted events with RPWF over the years. We’d love to have your company at our event.

Please sign up to join us on August 23rd from 2-4pm at this link.

Human Trafficking Awareness

Poe Center’s 2020 Annual Meeting and Conferences

NC consistently ranks in the top ten for calls to get National Human Trafficking hotline. Governor Cooper proclaimed January as Human Trafficking Awareness Month to bring attention to this issue. Despite the prevalence of human trafficking and increased awareness of the problem in our community confusion and misperceptions around root causes and prevention strategies remain. The Poe Center’s 2020 Annual Meeting and Conferences will address this knowledge gap. The purpose of the 2020
conference is to elevate the conversation past basic awareness, provide a deeper understanding of human trafficking, educate conference attendees about primary prevention strategies, and empower
them to make an impact.

In September, there will be a VIP Reception to kick things off followed by conferences in Raleigh and Greensboro or hosted virtually depending on public health guidance.  Each conference will feature an expert keynote speaker and panel discussion.  The Raleigh Conference will also include the Poe Center’s Annual Meeting.

Keynote Speaker: Deborah A. Gibbs, MSPH, Director, Victimization and Resiliency Research, RTI International.

Monday, September 21, 2020 VIP Reception Poe Center 6-7:30 PM
Tuesday, September 22, 2020 Luncheon, Keynote and Panel, Greensboro College, Greensboro, 11:30 am to 1:30 pm
